Earn a positive return on investment while solving your manure management headaches!

The economics of using the Dungster’s manure-to-compost approach turns an environmental age-old problem (and expense) into a positive return on investment in just 90 days. Request the “Dungster Economics Report” to see the details of how these favorable numbers work for the users.

The basis of the positive math is simply this, the value of the finished compost exceeds the input costs (a local dumpster and Dungster Kit), This is true whether the process is bought or rented.

As seen in the table below, rented or purchased kits cost only a few hundred per month (when rented) or a few thousands of dollars to purchase, The US Patent 11,111,188 issued and more patents pending focus upon making the Dungster process AFFORDABLE. By driving down the costs this opens up the economics so that doing the right thing for the environment, that is composting is also the right business decision.

Let's assume a dozen horses are boarded at 1,000lbs /horse.  That herd will produce 500-600 pounds of manure and bedding waste a day.
In cubic volume that is 24 to 30 cubic feet of waste a day, or say one cubic yard a day.  A 30-yard composter is about right for a month's waste.

COSTS TO OPERATE A RENTED 30-YD DUNGSTER COMPOSTER
To operate a Dungster Composter for a 12 horse operation.
What is needed:

Qty Dumpsters Rent/mo. Cost/Mo.
2 30-yard* $50 $100
1 Premium Kit $160 $160
Total/mo. $260
Hrs. labor to handle (included in the cash flow) **
4 $50 $200
Total costs incurred $460

CASH FLOW FROM A 30-YD DUNGSTER COMPOSTER
Value created:
Compost sells for a range of prices.  Bulk sales to the industry are about $20/yard. Consumer sales in pick-up truckloads are likely twice that price/yard.

Let us assume $30/yard  $30
Let us assume 20-yard yield(***)  20
Revenue generated per one-month batch $600
Total costs incurred $460
Net cash flow per month ($600-$460) $140
Annualized $1,680
Cash flow if dumpsters are double costly! $40
Annualized $480
Notes:
Rental costs are the highest per month costs. Bought and owned dumpsters and aeration will have a lower monthly cost in the long-run.
* Two units saves labor as one is actively composting while one is being loaded. After a composting cycle these two "flip-flop" their roles. Marginal cost of a 40-yard dumpster is immaterial.
** Labor could be omitted. The labor to move raw manure and finished compost could be considered the cost of the overall farm.
*** Assumed yield of 20-yards recognizes the volume shrinks by a 1/3rd after composting.

Options/Add-ons

Cellular/Cloud Kit †††

$895 or $53
  • Provides maximum temperature upper limit control
  • Twice daily logging/recording of actual temperatures
  • Push notifications of excessive temperatures and push notification of power failures.

Battery Back-up Kit †††

$675 or $40
  • Keeps the Dungster aeration running during several hours of power loss.

Solar Powered Kit †††

$1,250 or $74
  • Allows complete "off the grid" operation of Dungster composter.

† Basic Kit will mean some storing and doubling handling of the infeed raw materials. This since, when a dumpster is actively composting (for about 30-days) the current manure and stall waste will have to be stacked somewhere nearby. After the current composting session is finished, and the composter is emptied then this infeed raw material must be handled (again) to load into the Dungster composter.

†† The Basic Kit storing and doubling handling above is avoided.

††† Order one of these for each control enclosure to be thus supported.

†††† Multiples of these quantities are necessary for larger censuses of animals present. These can be spread-out so to make stall cleaning chores less arduous (less steps involved).
